Conflict Management Course

Is your Security Career Stuck on the Wrong Side of the Door?

Spending  twelve hours on your feet, freezing in the rain, or dealing with aggressive patrons for capped wages can feel like a dead end. You know you have the experience to lead, but you’re trapped by a lack of “official” paperwork.

The SIA Trainer Course (Combined) is your exit strategy. It authorizes experienced security professionals to teach official SIA license-linked courses. By bundling the three mandatory qualifications—AET, Conflict Management, and Physical Intervention—this course enables you to legally instruct Door Supervisors and Security Guards across the UK.

At Advance Training Academy, we provide the definitive, all-in-one pathway to getting certified in as little as 6 days via our blended learning model.

What is the SIA Trainer Course (Combined)?

This package is often referred to as the “Train the Trainer” qualification for the private security industry. To teach licensable qualifications like Door Supervisor or Security Guarding, the SIA (Security Industry Authority) mandates that you hold specialist trainer qualifications in the subjects you teach.

The Combined SIA Trainer Course packages three Ofqual-regulated Level 3 qualifications into one streamlined program:

  1. Teaching (AET): Learn how to teach.
  2. Conflict Management (CM): Learn to teach de-escalation.
  3. Physical Intervention (PI): Learn to teach safe restraint.

Instructor’s Insight:
Many beginners make the mistake of only taking the AET (formerly PTLLS). While essential, the AET alone does not allow you to teach SIA courses. You absolutely need the combined Conflict Management and Physical Intervention units to satisfy awarding bodies like TQUK or Highfield.

Core Components: The Curriculum

We structure this course to minimize downtime using a Blended Learning approach (Self-study + Classroom).

Qualification ComponentWhat You Will LearnAssessment Method
1. L3 Award in Education & Training (AET)Lesson planning, inclusive teaching methods, and classroom management.Micro-teaching session (15 mins) & Portfolio.
2. L3 Deliverers of Conflict ManagementTeaching dynamic risk assessment, communication loops, and de-escalation.Multiple choice exam & Scenario-based role play.
3. L3 Deliverers of Physical InterventionTeaching non-pain compliant holds, escorts, and reducing the risk of positional asphyxia.Practical Observation& Portfolio.

Prerequisites: Are You Eligible?

To become an approved SIA Trainer, strict entry requirements apply. You must have:

  • Sector Competence: At least 2-3 years of frontline experience holding an SIA license (Door Supervisor, Guarding, or CP).
  • First Aid Certificate: You must hold a valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid certificate (valid for at least 12 months) before starting the Physical Intervention unit.
  • Age: You must be 19+.

The Financial Logic: Why This Pays Off

Why invest in this course? Because the Return on Investment (ROI) is undeniable compared to standard guarding.

Standard Door Supervisor£11 – £15 per hourHigh
Security Trainer (Employed)£30,000 – £40,000 / yearLow

The “Hidden” Obstacles (And Why You Shouldn’t Worry)

We know what you’re thinking. You look at the syllabus and panic sets in. Let’s address the two biggest elephants in the room.

1. “I’m terrified of Public Speaking.”
This is the #1 fear. But remember, you aren’t delivering a TED Talk to strangers. You are speaking to people exactly like you—security guards who want their badge. You speak their language. The AET portion gives you frameworks that kill anxiety. By Day 3, you won’t just be speaking; you’ll be commanding the room.

2. “I haven’t written an essay in 20 years.”
The “portfolio” requirement sounds intimidating. However, at Advance Training Academy, we don’t expect academic dissertations. We need clear, practical answers based on your experience. Our tutors provide templates and guidance to ensure you don’t get stuck on paperwork.

Why Choose Advance Training Academy?

There are dozens of providers, but few understand the market like we do.

  • Speed of Certification: We aim for a turnaround of approximately 2-3 weeksfrom submission. We know you have contracts waiting.
  • The “Combined” Discount: Buying these courses separately would cost upwards of £1,500. Our combined packages offer significant savings.
  • Nationwide Venues: Whether you are in London, Birmingham, or Manchester, we likely have a classroom near you.
  • Job Referral: We often connect high-performing graduates with training companies looking for staff.
